On2 Salsa Bootcamp with Azucena & Carlos

May 12-13, 2007

A 6-hour intensive of on2 dancing.

In this intensive salsa training on the on2 style, Azucena and Carlos will teach you how to confidently dance on the second beat of the measure, the popular Mambo style also known as the “Eddie Torres on2 style” from New York. You will learn all the basics: open footwork and patterns as they are commonly danced in the on2 style, spinning drills and preparation for multiple turns, and styling to spice up your on2 dancing. In addition, we will cover the fundamental rhythms of salsa music to help you better understand the relationship between the dance and the music.

This training is recommended for dancers who have been dancing on1 for at least a year and would like to learn the ever-popular on2 style of salsa. It is also recommended for dance instructors who would like to create a solid foundation of the on2 style and the dance technique involved.

Azucena and Carlos placed 6th in the world in the on2 category in 2005 and have been competing and teaching the on2 style for the past 3 years. They direct their own on2 dance company, Jazzy Dance Company, in Austin, Texas.
